A Pair of Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack
Two more people are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.
A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.
The arrests follow a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was among the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.
Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.
Police were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of people injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.
The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
